Buying Guide for Keyboard in India
Casio and Yamaha keyboards in India are the leading manufacturers in this electronic keyboard segment.
Musical Keyboards don’t have any separate classification for beginners and professionals. Both use the keyboards, with moreover the same keys.
The only difference with professional musical keyboards is the additional musical note synthesis and extra audio features. Obviously, they cost more.
Don’t mistake musical Keyboards with Piano. They differ in their own ways like:
- Real Pianos or the Traditional Piano are large-sized (larger keyboard), and cannot be easily ported from place-to-place.
- Acoustic pianos are a acoustic instrument with weighted keys, where a hammer hits the strings and produces the sound in an acoustic piano.
- Musical keyboards are electrical instruments with keys tuned without any constraints.

The musical keyboards pricing in India starts from Rs. 3,400 and goes all the way up Rs. 30,000.

Nice article ZiggiMusich.I am planning to purchase for my daughter. She is learning carnatic.vocal but is beginner on keyboard.. we prefer 61 keys ,What is advantage of Yamaha over touch sensitive Casio.
ZiggiMusic says
Hi Shivaram,
Touch Response feature basically helps the player to play the keyboard a little more easily. Both Yamaha and Casio have ‘Touch response’ featuring keyboards. There’s isn’t any high difference in sound quality as you think, but brands have their own signature sounds.
Shreyas Khambhayata says
Hi ZiggiMusic
Casio has a ‘high grade’ series and their very first casio in the series – WK 240 is for around 13-14k and has 76 keys and touch sensitivity.
I’m a beginner so should go for a keyboard with more keys or stick with the 61 ones like the CT 300?
ZiggiMusic says
Hi Shreyas,
Actually, it’s more to the price point here and playing level. If you are a beginner Casio CT-S300 Casiotone is perfect with only 61 keys. The 76 keys keyboards are mostly for professionals, and definitely has a lot of features you would ever want if your budget suffices.
